Offering Hemichromis bimaculatus (Jewel Cichlid).

An aquarium favourite, the jewel cichlid is so named for its intensely bright colouration consisting of bright spots against an intense orange / red background. Reports on its maximum size are mixed, though general estimates of 5 inches in aquaria tend to be most common. It is an aggressive fish that isn't afraid to start fights or end them, but for the large part it can be somewhat subdued in established communities. Aim to feed it a balanced diet from flake, pellets, and / or live / frozen foods to bring out its brilliant sheen and maintain overall health. As with most cichlids, it displays a high level of parental care both parents looking after fry after laying eggs on a chosen spawning site.
