Tank Setup:
- Elongate Mbunas prefer rocky habitats with plenty of hiding places and caves.
- Provide a tank with plenty of hiding spots and rock formations to mimic their natural environment.

Water Parameters:
- Maintain water parameters with a pH of 7.5 to 8.5 and a temperature between 23 to 28°C (73 to 82°F).
- Water hardness should be moderately hard to hard, around 10 to 20 dGH.

Filtration and Water Flow:
- Provide efficient filtration to maintain water quality and oxygenation, as well as gentle to moderate water flow.

Diet:
- Elongate Mbunas are herbivores and feed primarily on algae and biofilm. Include a diet high in vegetable matter such as spirulina-based flakes or pellets.
- Supplement their diet with occasional feedings of live or frozen foods like brine shrimp or bloodworms.

Tank mates:
- Elongate Mbunas are territorial and aggressive, especially towards conspecifics and similar-looking species. Keep them with other Lake Malawi cichlids that can withstand their aggression.
- Avoid keeping them with smaller or more passive fish that may become targets of aggression.

- Elongate Mbunas are highly territorial and can be aggressive towards other fish, especially during breeding times.
