Our Guide To Keeping Green Ghost Pinoy Angelfish Fish

  1. About Fish Species:

    • Scientific name: Pterophyllum scalare
    • Common name: Green Ghost Pinoy Angelfish
    • Family: Cichlidae
    • Origin: Amazon River Basin in South America
    • Adult length: 15 cm
    • Lifespan: 10 years or more
  2. Tank Setup:

    • Green Ghost Pinoy Angelfish require a tall tank with a capacity of at least 200L to accommodate their vertical swimming behavior.
    • Provide tall plants like Amazon Sword and Vallisneria for them to hide among, and leave open swimming spaces in the middle and upper parts of the tank.
  3. Water Parameters:

    • Green Ghost Pinoy Angelfish prefer slightly acidic to neutral water conditions with a pH range of 6.5 to 7.5.
    • Keep the water temperature between 24 to 28°C (75 to 82°F).
  4. Filtration and Water Flow:

    • Provide gentle to moderate water flow with a suitable filter to maintain water quality without causing excessive disturbance.
  5. Diet:

    • Green Ghost Pinoy Angelfish are omnivores and will accept a variety of foods. Offer them a balanced diet consisting of high-quality flake or pellet food supplemented with live or frozen foods like bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia.
  6. Tank mates:

    • Green Ghost Pinoy Angelfish are generally peaceful but can be territorial during breeding. They are compatible with other peaceful community fish such as tetras, rasboras, gouramis, and corydoras catfish.
    • Avoid keeping them with aggressive or very small fish that they may see as prey.
  7. Behavior and Compatibility:

    • Green Ghost Pinoy Angelfish are known for their graceful swimming and striking appearance, making them a popular choice for community tanks.
    • They may exhibit some aggression during breeding, so provide ample hiding spots and tank space if breeding is intended.
