    • Provide hiding spots using rocks, caves, and driftwood, along with open swimming space.
    • They enjoy a sandy or fine gravel substrate with some sturdy plants that can tolerate their digging behavior.
  3. Water Parameters:

    • They thrive in slightly acidic to neutral water with a pH range of 6.5 to 7.5.
    • Maintain water temperature between 24 to 28°C (75 to 82°F).
  4. Filtration and Water Flow:

    • Use a powerful filtration system to maintain excellent water quality as Red Parrot Cichlids can be messy eaters.
    • A moderate water flow is ideal to mimic their natural river-like environment.
  5. Diet:

    • Feed them a varied omnivorous diet including high-quality pellets designed for cichlids.
    • Supplement with vegetables (like blanched spinach or peas) and occasional live or frozen foods such as bloodworms or brine shrimp.
  6. Tank mates:

    • Choose tank mates that are similarly sized and semi-aggressive, such as larger tetras, Severums, or other peaceful cichlids.
    • Avoid small or very timid fish, which may be harassed or outcompeted for food.
  7. Behavior and Compatibility:

    • Red Parrot Cichlids are social and intelligent fish known for their interactive behavior with owners.
    • They may display territorial aggression, especially during feeding or breeding times, but can coexist with compatible species.
