Our Guide To Keeping White Wizard Snail

  1. About Fish Species:

    • Scientific name: Filopaludina martensi
    • Common name: White Wizard Snail
    • Family: Neritidae
    • Origin: Southeast Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean
    • Adult length: Up to 2.5 cm
    • Lifespan: 1 to 2 years
  2. Tank Setup:

    • White Wizard Snails prefer a tank with plenty of hard surfaces to graze on, such as rocks and aquarium glass.
    • Provide some plants and smooth decorations where they can attach and forage.
  3. Water Parameters:

    • They thrive in freshwater or slightly brackish water conditions with a pH range of 7.0 to 8.0.
    • Maintain the water temperature between 22 to 28°C (72 to 82°F).
  4. Filtration and Water Flow:

    • They prefer moderate water flow, so choose a filter that provides gentle to moderate circulation.
  5. Diet:

    • White Wizard Snails are herbivores and mainly feed on algae. Ensure there is enough algae growth in the tank for them to graze on.
    • Supplement their diet with algae wafers or blanched vegetables like zucchini and spinach if algae growth is insufficient.
  6. Tank mates:

    • They are peaceful and can be kept with other peaceful freshwater fish such as tetras, rasboras, guppies, and dwarf shrimp.
    • Avoid keeping them with aggressive or large predatory fish that may harm them.
  7. Behavior and Compatibility:

    • White Wizard Snails are active grazers and will help control algae growth in the aquarium.
    • They are generally solitary but can be kept in small groups without issues.
